ABSTRACT
This paper is a literary review with the objective of analyzing the potential role and viability of nuclear fusion in the energy market in the near future. By examination and synthesis of literature concerning fusion investments, LCOE’s, public policy and more, a general private investment growth trend, wide LCOE ranges and public policies unrelated to such LCOE’s were observed. Both the private and public sector invest in nuclear fusion despite unreliable timelines on commercialization, partially attributed to a unique climate such as AI which makes fusion increasingly attractive. Further research on fusion challenges such as fuels is necessary in the future.
